Since Conyers developed as a train station, the Depot remains in the Olde Town Business District as the most historic site. In 2005, the Depot became the home of the Conyers Welcome Center. The Rockdale Historical Society oversees this facility, along with the Old Jail Museum, and the “Dinky,” a 1905 Rogers steam locomotive that transported thousands of cotton bales and bleached cotton duct to and from nearby Milstead. The Dinky is one of only three such locomotives of its type in the world. It is permanently parked on the siderails across from the Depot, between Green and Railroad Streets. Be sure to stop by the Welcome Center to pick up your Historical Walking Tour self-guided brochure with these sites mentioned, and more during your visit to Olde Town. If you love historic homes, you’ll love walking, bicycling, or golf carting through the residential historic district of Olde Town. Many of the homes were built in the early 1900’s during the Craftsman Cottage Bungalow era. For over twenty years, our holiday Tour of Homes is a community favorite!

Paula Vaughn Black Box Theater
Located in historic downtown Conyers, the Paula Vaughn Black Box Theater is a 2,500 square foot facility that features an intimate 83 seat theater, with a stage area, green room behind the stage, small upstairs dressing room, lighting and tech box, as well as restrooms.
The CRCA hosts and produces many of its sponsored events in this theater, but also arranges for its use by other artists and organizations.
